Cuban security personnel detain a member of the Ladies in White group after their weekly anti-government protest march, in Havana September 13, 2015. Cuban authorities detained about 50 dissidents in Havana on Sunday when they attempted to march down a street in the capital a week ahead of Pope Francis' visit to the Communist-run country. Most of those arrested were members of the human rights group Ladies in White who for years, dressed in white and carrying pink gladiolas, have staged a weekly march along 5th avenue in the upscale district of Miramar after attending Mass, then rallied in a nearby park to denounce government repression. The organization is one of the few dissident groups in Cuba which has opposed the reestablishment of relations with the United States and is critical of the Roman Catholic Church's role in detent and support for cautious reforms undertaken by Cuban President Raul Castro.
